New Arrivals:
Charli XCX – BRAT (Black Ice Colored Vinyl, Gatefold LP Jacket)
Limited black ice colored vinyl LP pressing housed in gatefold jacket. 2024 release. Charli’s sixth studio album Brat is the eagerly awaited follow up to 2022’s Crash, which reached number 1 on the UK’s official album chart, and promises to be an exhilarating club record built around high art references and social commentary: a new era both musically and visually.
Alice Coltrane – A Monastic Trio (Verve By Request Series)
Recorded in 1968 and intended as a tribute to her late husband, Alice Coltrane is supported in her first solo outing by Pharoah Sanders, Jimmy Garrison and Rashied Ali – all members of John Coltrane’s last quintet. While initial reviews to the album were lukewarm upon release, looking at it in the context of her larger body of work, A Monastic Trio serves as a delightful foreshadowing of what was to come. The Verve By Request Series features 180-gram vinyl, pressed at Third Man in Detroit.
Bad Bunny & The Weeknd – Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va A Pasar Manana
Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana is the fifth solo studio album by Puerto Rican rapper and singer Bad Bunny, originally released in 2023. It features guest appearances from Arcángel, Bryant Myers, de la Ghetto, Eladio Carrión, Feid, Luar la L, Mora, Ñengo Flow, Young Miko, and Yovngchimi.
Billie Holiday – Stay With Me (Limited Edition, 180 Gram Vinyl, Bonus Tracks)
One of the best albums Billie made during the later stage of her career, Stay With Me derives from a 1955 session that only produced the seven songs on the album. It features her backed by such stars as trumpeter Charlie Shavers, clarinettist Tony Scott, tenor saxophonist Budd Johnson, and pianist Billy Taylor.
Chris Isaak – Heart Shaped World
Chris Isaak is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist and occasional actor. He is widely known for his breakthrough hit and signature song “Wicked Game.“ He is known for his reverb-laden rockabilly revivalist style and wide vocal range. His songs generally focus on the themes of love, loss, and heartbreak. With a career spanning four decades, Isaak has released a total of 12 studio albums, toured, and received numerous award nominations.
The Cure – Japanese Whispers: Singles Nov 82 – Nov 83
Limited clear vinyl LP pressing housed in a special transclear sleeve. Remastered by Robert Smith and cut by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios, London. ‘Japanese Whispers’ is a compilation of Cure singles and B-sides released between November 1982 and November 1983 and charted in the UK Album charts on December 24th, 1983.
John Lee Hooker – Burning Hell (Bluesville Acoustic Sounds Series)
Burning Hell was recorded in 1959 in Detroit, but the album wasn’t released until 1964. Even then, it was only available in the UK. This 180-gram vinyl pressing marks the first official single LP worldwide release the album has seen. Pressed at QRP in partnership with Acoustic Sounds, the album features John Lee Hooker solo as he plays originals and classics. AllMusic states that, on this album, “Hooker shows himself to be an excellent interpreter who could have held his own with Delta bluesmen of any era.”
Kenny Dorham – Inta Somethin’ (Blue Note Tone Poet Series)
This spirited 1961 live date for Pacific Jazz captured Kenny Dorham leading a quintet with Jackie McLean, Walter Bishop Jr., Leroy Vinnegar, and Art Taylor at The Jazz Workshop in San Francisco. The band is firing on all cylinders throughout this set featuring four standards bookended by two Dorham originals. This stereo Tone Poet Vinyl Edition was produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI, and packaged in a deluxe tip-on jacket.
Kenny Burrell & John Coltrane – Kenny Burrell & John Coltrane (Original Jazz Classics Series, 180 Gram Vinyl)
Originally released in 1963 on Prestige, Kenny Burrell & John Coltrane features Burrell and Coltrane alongside Tommy Flanagan, Paul Chambers and Jimmy Cobb playing across 5 tracks. This new edition is released as part of the Original Jazz Classics Series and is pressed on 180-gram vinyl at RTI with all-analog mastering from the original tapes by Matthew Lutthans at Cohearent Audio and presented in a Tip-On Jacket.
The Pretenders – Learning To Crawl (40th Anniversary Edition, Brick & Mortar Exclusive, Anniversary Edition, Remastered)
Celebrating the album’s 40th anniversary, this reissue is true to the original 1984 release with the artwork and tracklisting remaining the same. This pressing of ‘Learning To Crawl’ features 2018 remastered audio by the album’s original producer, Chris Thomas, on vinyl for the first time.
‘Learning To Crawl’ is Pretenders’ third album, released after a band hiatus which saw in this time the sad passing of guitarist James Honeyman-Scott and bassist Pete Farndon before recording started. It sees an assortment of guitar and bass players on the record before Robbie McIntosh and Malcolm Foster joined Chrissie Hynde and Martin Chambers making the band a four piece.
The 1984 album is certified Gold and Platinum in the UK and US respectively and reached #11 on the UK albums chart and #5 in Billboard 200, featuring some of their most loved songs including ‘2000 Miles’, ‘Back on the Chain Gang’ both singles securing spots in the UK top 20 singles chart.
Sun Ra & Arkestra – Featuring Pharaoh Sanders And Black Harold (Green Colored Vinyl)
“The October Revolution in Jazz, organized by Bill Dixon in the West Village in 1964, presented a vivid cross section of approaches to the new music, including a sextet led by Ra. For the October Revolution’s continuation, titled Four Days in December, held at nearby Judson Hall on the last days of 1964, the Arkestra performance presented Pharoah Sanders as well as a flautist (who was and remained obscure thereafter) named Harold Murray, nicknamed Black Harold. “It wasn’t until long after Sanders had achieved worldwide acclaim with John Coltrane that Ra and manager Alton Abraham decided to issue the music they’d recorded at Judson Hall. After it’s first release in plain or hand-decorated covers in 1976, Featuring Pharoah Sanders And Black Harold remained an exceptionally rare item in the El Saturn discography, known to a few lucky collectors. “We’re lucky to have this glimpse of what Sanders sounded like in such a different context, galvanizing the large group and in turn being inspired to make his first significant contribution on record.”
