Jeff Rosenstock- Post- (indie only blue vinyl)

Weekly Review:

POST by Jeff Rosenstock

Prior to his solo career Jeff was writer and producer for the band, “Bomb the Music Industry! This is the 3rd solo effort and comes on the heels of the 2016 release “Worry.”, Which made some critics best of the year lists.

“POST” starts with the blistering, seven-minute “USA”, which opens with a passionate Rosenstock on his take of the current state of affairs. A catchy verse with nice keyboard and booming drum finale is a good album starter.

The album then chugs full speed ahead with “Yr Throat”, a pop-punk number about finding a voice in today’s political climate. A good jam with the right ingredients:  power chords, chanting vocals, an awesome guitar solo and nice keyboard work.

Every song is easy to get into; this album isn’t a tough listen even when many of the topics covered might be.

The album  closer, “Let Them Win.” is an epic final track comming in at 11 minutes long, and is a call to action. The song describes a beaten-down Rosenstock, who is hung out to dry. After setbacks and hope all but gone, the song delivers, “We’re not gonna let them win”. Powerful, it shows a willingness to keep fighting, even when the odds are stacked against someone.

This album is definitely worth a listen and a trip to the Underground!

Weekly Review:

My Pick of the Week is Sunflower Bean‘s Twentytwo in Blue. This is the second full length from the young trio from NYC. I loved their first release and was really excited to hear the new music. Twentytwo in Blue was worth the wait. It’s more of the same psych edged jangle rock. Harmonies that will make you cry, great hooks, and superb songwriting. My favorite cuts so far are Twentytwo, Crisis Fest, and Oh No, Bye Bye. I saw them live twice in support of their first album in 2016 and saw them again twice last week at SXSW. They are really great performers and the new material is even better live. Make sure to catch them at recordBar on 6/26 . We have the indie only blue vinyl version in stock for $22. Pick up your copy today. Sherman
