Olivia Rodrigo – Guts (Indie Exclusive, Lavender Colored Vinyl) and (Regular Black Version)

3-time GRAMMY® award winning recording artist Olivia Rodrigo ‘s GUTS was recorded with producer Daniel Nigro, who also collaborated with her on SOUR, her chart-topping, 4x platinum debut album. “For me, this album is about growing pains and about trying to figure out who I am at this point in my life and exactly what I want to say in my songs.”

Betty Davis – They Say I’m Different

One can hardly imagine the genre-busting, culture-crossing musical magic of Outkast, Prince, Erykah Badu, Rick James, The Roots, or even the early Red Hot Chili Peppers without the influence of R&B pioneer Betty Davis. Her style of raw and revelatory punk-funk defies any notions that women can’t be visionaries in the worlds of rock and pop. In recent years, rappers from Ice Cube to Talib Kweli to Ludacris have rhymed over her intensely strong but sensual music.

There is one testimonial about Betty Davis that is universal: she was a woman ahead of her time. In our contemporary moment, this may not be as self-evident as it was thirty years ago – we live in an age that’s been profoundly changed by flamboyant flaunting of female sexuality: from Parlet to Madonna, Lil Kim to Kelis. Yet, back in 1973 when Betty Davis first showed up in her silver go-go boots, dazzling smile and towering Afro, who could you possibly have compared her to? Marva Whitney had the voice but not the independence. Labelle wouldn’t get sexy with their ‘Lady Marmalade’ for another year while Millie Jackson wasn’t Feelin’ Bitchy until 1977. Even Tina Turner, the most obvious predecessor to Betty’s fierce style wasn’t completely out of Ike’s shadow until later in the decade. Ms. Davis’s unique story, still sadly mostly unknown, is unlike any other in popular music. Betty wrote the song ‘Uptown’ for the Chambers Brothers before marrying Miles Davis in the late ’60s, influencing him with psychedelic rock, and introducing him to Jimi Hendrix – personally inspiring the classic album _Bitches Brew_. But her songwriting ability was way ahead of it’s time as well. Betty not only wrote every song she ever recorded and produced every album after her first, but the young woman penned the tunes that got The Commodores signed to Motown. The Detroit label soon came calling, pitching a Motown songwriting deal, which Betty turned down. Motown wanted to own everything. Heading to the UK, Marc Bolan of T. Rex urged the creative dynamo to start writing for herself. A common thread throughout Betty’s career would be her unbending Do-It-Yourself ethic, which made her quickly turn down anyone who didn’t fit with the vision. She would eventually say no to Eric Clapton as her album producer, seeing him as too banal. Her 1974 sophomore album _They Say I’m Different_ features a worthy-of-framing futuristic cover challenging David Bowie’s science fiction funk with real rocking soul-fire, kicked off with the savagely sexual ‘Shoo-B-Doop and Cop Him’ (later sampled by Ice Cube). Her follow up is full of classic cuts like ‘Don’t Call Her No Tramp’ and the hilarious, hard, deep funk of ‘He Was A Big Freak.’

Fleetwood Mac – Rumours

Fleetwood Mac was at the top of its game in August 1977 when the band returned to its adopted home in Southern California to play three shows at The Forum in Los Angeles. RUMOURS had only been out a few weeks when the band left in February to tour the world, returning six months later to play three shows at The Forum for nearly 50,000 fans.

RUMOURS LIVE captures the energy and excitement of the band’s opening night at The Forum on August 29, 1977.

The concert’s setlist draws almost exclusively from FLEETWOOD MAC and RUMOURS, the first two albums recorded by the band’s latest incarnation: Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, and Christine McVie, and the newest members, Stevie Nicks, and Lindsey Buckingham. The lone nod to Fleetwood Mac’s other nine studio albums is a performance of “Oh Well,” a rock-guitar masterpiece originally released in 1969 and written by the band’s founder, guitarist Peter Green.

The concert remained unreleased for decades until 2021, when “Gold Dust Woman” and “World Turning” from the show were included as a bonus tracks on LIVE: DELUXE EDITION, Rhino’s expanded version of Fleetwood Mac’s 1980 concert album. The other 16 songs on the collection have never been released before.

Engineer Ken Caillat, who helped record RUMOURS, also recorded the concert at The Forum using the Record Plant’s mobile recording truck. He captured the band’s impassioned performance at a moment of peak RUMOURS frenzy, including powerful versions of “Landslide,” “Never Going Back Again,” “Songbird,” and “The Chain.”

The Reverend Horton Heat – Liquor In The Front

Sub Pop is excitedly, finally repressing vinyl versions of three scorching ’90s psychobilly classics by Reverend Horton Heat. All three have been out of print on vinyl since the mid-’90s, with original pressings going for considerable amounts at the ol’ junk shop. 1994’s Liquor in the Front gets even more aggressive – heavy, even – sonically, with production by Ministry’s Al Jourgensen and the high-velocity opening pairing of the high-velocity instrumental “Big Sky” and the blistering lament “Baddest of the Bad.” The highest-selling of the Rev’s first three albums, Liquor… was originally co-released with Interscope Records, with the album hitting #18 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart and the single “One Time for Me” hitting #40 on the Modern Rock chart. In the words of AllMusic, “for sheer crank, nothing in his catalog can touch it.”

The Reverend Horton Heat – Smoke ’em If You Got ’em

Sub Pop is excitedly, finally repressing vinyl versions of three scorching ’90s psychobilly classics by Reverend Horton Heat. All three have been out of print on vinyl since the mid-’90s, with original pressings going for considerable amounts at the ol’ junk shop. The band’s 1990 debut, Smoke ’em If You Got ’em, made quite the first impression with frantic stand-up bass, fiery guitar playing, and the Rev’s wild howls stirring up a volatile cocktail of ’50s rockabilly, punk energy, and sly humor. AllMusic said of the album “it’s all sleaze, it’s all wrong, and it’s all so very, very right,” while, on encountering the hit single “Psychobilly Freakout” Beavis and Butthead raved “This dude is weird!” “Yeah, yeah, he’s like… our kind of people.”
