The music on Deeper Well, the seven-time Grammy winner’s fifth album, is almost chimeric. Rolling acoustic guitars, puffy clouds of strings and synth, warm bass punctuations, layered harmonies, moments of Celtic melody and plenty of room on the tracks for Musgraves’ silvery vocals. On the bright, almost folky title track, the 30-something songstress surveys her life and priorities, recognizing what feeds her, drains her and even examines the childhood she’s left behind on her way to now. Saturn returns, cardinals embody a dead friend, love is given and taken, streets rush by, belongings are packed and old chapters deserted, new love blooms, jade bracelets serve as talismans, deep lessons emerge, small details define everything, the woods are a refuge and New York City serves as the same gleaming beacon as Oz. Celebrating it’s 20th anniversary this year, the album had key tracks like “Wheels” and the ever popular “No Phone.” Outside of being included in a limited-edition Record Store Day box set this album has never been available on vinyl as a standalone item. Pressure Chief is the fifth studio album by alternative rock band CAKE. Released in 2004, this album showcases the band’s unique fusion of different musical styles including country, pop, and rock. With track highlights like “Wheels” and “No Phone,” CAKE further solidifies their presence in the music industry through their creativity and storytelling.

Quincy Jones – Big Band Bossa Nova (Limited Edition, 180g Virgin Vinyl, Bonus Track, Spain Import)
Bossa nova was in vogue in 1962, and following the release of the Stan Getz/Charlie Byrd LP Jazz Samba, jazz record producers were anxious to get their signed artists to jump on the “jazz bossa nova” bandwagon. Another LP titled Big Band Bossa Nova was also recorded in 1962, which featured Stan Getz fronting an orchestra conducted by Gary McFarland. As Mercury’s musical director at that time, Quincy Jones was his own producer and decided to take advantage of the opportunity with his Big Band Bossa Nova, which puts together some Jobim classics of the genre and a few original compositions all wonderfully arranged by Jones.
