Ella Fitzgerald, an American jazz vocalist born on April 25, 1917, was renowned for her clear tone, flawless diction, and innovative improvisation. She was often referred to as the “First Lady of Song” and the “Queen of Jazz”.

Bertus Distribution, with NTR, AVROTROS, and MOJO, is launching a vinyl series of live recordings from the North Sea Jazz Festival. The series will feature 180-gram white vinyl records with black-and-white artwork by Hans Pol. The first release honors jazz legend Ella Fitzgerald, capturing her 1979 performance. Future releases will include performances by Dizzy Gillespie, Buddy Rich, and others. The festival, which began in 1976, has grown into a major international event, showcasing a blend of jazz and other genres, and attracting up to ninety thousand attendees annually.

The records are all pressed on 180gm vinyl at the world-renowned Record Industry plant in the Netherlands. New lacquers were cut from the 2018 remasters by Bernie Grundman and overseen by mastering engineer James Guthrie. All designed by Kate and feature new Fish People label designs, stunning vinyl combinations and obi strips with pressing date. They are protected in resealable poly-bag liners with a ‘Fish People Reissue’ sticker, bottom right. Kate’s second album Lionheart was released in late 1978, just nine months after The Kick Inside. Lionheart reached no. 6 on the UK album chart and has been certified Platinum by the British Phonographic Industry. 180g black vinyl. Resealable poly-sleeve with sticker.
