“Pink Floyd’s 1975 Album “Wish You Were Here” has a notoriety among even the most casual admirers of Classic Rock. Though it is only five songs long, “Wish You Were Here” give us the kind of feeling that accompanies an album from the Rock giants, mainly that of admiration and awe. The album opens with “Shine On You Crazy Diamond Part I-V”, a magnificent display of the power of a guitar in the right hands, namely that of David Gilmour, and the kind of catchy existential messages that are prevalent throughout their career. Then it switches to the mechanical “Welcome To The Machine”, a brilliant piece with a lyrical fluidity, followed by “Have a Cigar”, an anthem against the Music Industry. However, it is the title track that truly stands out. All in all, very little introduction is needed for this amazing album. “Wish You Were Here” is a great album through and through, and whether you are a casual listener or a avid Pink Floyd fan, this album is one that has lived on through the ages and thus is an essential part of any vinyl collection.” A.S.
